Château Veyry 2017, Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux £20.85 (down from £24.50)
Richard helped to make this wine, so always worth flagging it up for new readers! Rich and layered, with black fruit, sweet spice, liquorice and a hint of mint, plus ripe tannins. This is your Sunday roast claret.
Rioja Gran Reserva "Cédula Real" 2014 £34.95
Always a stand-out favourite at our Spanish wine dinners. Nice and oaky. Everyone likes a rioja!
Sang de Pigeon Barossa Valley Shiraz 2022 £23.95
Michael Hall's classy, great-value Shiraz from three of the Barossa's best-known sites. Warming and generous.
Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Hengst, Domaine Stentz-Buecher £34.95
Because whites still have a place at the table! We tasted this for the Level 3 class on Monday and I was reminded what a winner it is. Lychee, ginger and a smoky, herbal note. Powerful but not heavy - something a little bit different to liven up a dull day!
